Matt's bike is taking a little bit more time than anticipated, but for good reason. The seat tube - seat stay junction is especially difficult with stainless lugs. And since this is a cross bike I didn't want to do the typical joint where the stays are simply attached to the outside of the lug. I put a slight bend in the top of these stays to add more tire clearance, then fitted them under and over the sides of the seat tube lug. I haven't seen many other bikes out there with this type of a joint, but I think it looks great.

New Dropouts!

And so it begins...
Matt DuPree of Denver, CO, has ordered a single speed cross frame with polished stainless lugs. I'll be using True Temper OX Platinum tubing that should make the frame really light and stiff. I'm sanding these lugs down to about 120 grit before brazing so that I won't have quite so much sanding to do after the frame is brazed. Keep checking back for updates. This is going to be a beautiful bike.
